This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students are in desperate need of non-fiction reading materials!

Students in an inclusion 4th grade classroom in the Bronx are in need of non-fiction reading materials.

The diverse group of learners in our class results in a large range of reading levels and texts needed to support student learning. We are in need of books to support independent reading for all students, this is just the start for our classroom library.

My Project

Common Core Learning Standards are shifting their focus on non-fiction literature. What this means is that students are focusing more time during the school year to learn how to analyze and better comprehend non-fiction texts. As a result, we are seeking to expand our non-fiction resources and provide students with books that are of interest to them!

Providing students with texts that are on their level and of interest to them is vital in providing them with the foundation they need to become great readers!

Students in the 21st century need to be able to read, analyze and deeply understand the text within non-fiction texts!
