I am a second grade teacher who works in an inner city school within NYC. I have many students that are below grade level. It would be great to get my students interested in nonfiction texts. Mostly all my books in the library are fiction. It is hard to engage students in nonfiction texts when you don't have many. I would appreciate a collection of nonfiction so that my students could grow as readers and add to their vocabulary. When I do give my students book orders I hardly get any orders because my students can't afford the books. By supplying my class with nonfiction texts you will be opening and exposing my students to a whole world of opportunities. I appreciate you taking the time to look at my proposal.
