This year I'm teaching in a Title school with approximately 50% free and reduced price lunch rate. My students are a very diverse population speaking four different languages. All students have very different learning needs, but they show up every day excited and ready to learn.
I have such a fun, energetic group of students this year!
They are excited about learning. They are very interested in science and I hope to inspire that same level of interest for reading.
My Project
Currently there are five third grade teachers sharing math manipulatives. We frequently have to pass these materials around leaving our students without what they need. This project will provide my students with math manipulatives, so that they are able to do hands-on activities and enrich their mathematical thinking.
My students will use the leveled Rosa Parks books for differentiated book clubs.
These books will benefit my and my partner teacher's classroom. They will be used to supplement a unit on the life of Martin Luther King Jr. Students will be introduced to non-fiction biographies by learning about some of the most prominent figures in the Civil Rights movement.
