Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Despite the struggles that my students face day-to-day, they are amazing in every way! My first and second graders live in a low socioeconomic area and attend a Title I school at which 100% of the students receive free or reduced priced breakfast and lunch.

My students are faced with living in neighborhoods full of gun violence and gangs, yet they are expected to sit still, be quiet, open up a book and learn something new.

They are just not focused on the task at hand. It's time to shift the traditional 20th-century learning towards the 21st century interdisciplinary learning to get them more engaged.

My Project

My students with disabilities are required to take literacy and math testing every 9 weeks. My students need wireless, noise cancelling headphones to minimize distractions when testing.

Wireless, noise cancelling headphones will create a more productive testing environment for my students with attention deficits.

The headphones would be used for testing purposes to promote better outcomes.

Students will be less distracted with noises which will help them hear the test questions better and promote more accurate test results. The wireless headphones will also prevent students from being distracted with tangled cords. My students will be able to focus more on testing and not noises and tangled cords.
