My students need 5 electronic balances with centigram precision. My lab get congested at the scales. They also need 3 snap circuit kits for a fun, hands-on way to learn about electric circuits.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Making circuits is fun, but soldering often isn't. This project will allow my students to build a wide variety of types of circuits (including an operating radio!) with pieces that snap into place and can be used over and over again.
We are a rural school district in Central Washington.
All three schools are on a single campus, with about four hundred students at the high school. A lot of the students' parents are field laborers with limited proficiency in English. Approximately 80% of our students are Mexican. The vast majority of the students appreciate the value of a good education and work to take advantage of what is being offered to them.
My Project
These materials will provide much needed tools for my students to learn about an important technology that drives virtually every aspect of our modern lives but is frequently taken for granted.
These kits will allow my students to learn about series and parallel circuits. They can also learn about the logic circuits that drive computer systems. Advanced students will learn how capacitors and transistors function in electric circuits
These circuit kids are incredibly flexible and have enough variety to engage students at virtually any grade level--my first grade son has come to me with things he was excited to have discovered using his kit.
The scales are also something sorely needed. I only have two that work, and many labs get congested when students need to weigh things. With forty-five minute periods at our school, every second of class time needs to count.
This project will let my students engage with electric circuits in an unprecedented manner for my classroom.
My previous students have learned the vocabulary, but now they'll be able to truly learn the concepts.
