We're too busy learning our ABC's and 123's to have to worry about bullies!
I am a special education kindergarten teacher at a high poverty elementary school.
I have a very diverse population of students in my classroom. Many of my students come from high poverty homes and are not given opportunities to engage in appropriate social behaviors with same age peers. My students need lessons, discussions and hands-on experience to help them develop appropriate social behavior and kick the bully behavior in my classroom.
My Project
I am seeking a variety of resources to teach my students about bullying, how not to be a bully, and how to engage in cooperative learning activities with appropriate positive behavior. I am seeking several copies of "Bullying in Schools" to share with my parents at conferences. Also, several other books to help teach my students about bullying. Several of the items I am requesting include hands-on cooperative learning games to help my students master basic skills such as alphabet recognition and counting. These games will also give my students opportunities to engage in small group and partner activities using appropriate social behavior.
This project is important because I want to provide my students with learning opportunities that will help them develop appropriate social skills that they can utilize both inside and outside of school.
