In my eleven years of teaching, I can honestly say that I’ve learned more from my students than they have from me. I have had the great fortune of teaching the smartest, most creative, hardest-working, passionate, and caring kids who have left a lasting impression on me! I hope to leave the same impression on my students as I make learning come to life and engage, motivate, and challenge my students each and every day. The students in my classroom this year, and all future years deserve a teacher who seeks out professional learning opportunities that helps teach them that you never stop learning.
My Project
This four-day, Kagan Structures Workshop will teach me structures and strategies to use in my classroom to engage and motivate my students. Using Kagan in the classroom promotes cooperation, participation, and learning retention. Students, today, often struggle with face-to-face interactions due to technology use, and incorporating Kagan in my classroom will help students to work together in a respectful manner that is encouraging and holds each one of their classmates accountable. Learning these structures will not only benefit my students next year but for the rest of my teaching career, as they will be refined and utilized each year I work with my students. This summer learning opportunity will motivate and inspire me, as I begin to plan for the next school year.
