Though it is my first year teaching (2 days in!) I believe my students hold the potential to change the world. All my students are placed in the daily living skills classroom, which is equipped for students with intense needs. They all look forward to the transition part of the school day where we work on how to be more independent in society.
My students are excited to learn everyday, they strive to obtain as much information as possible.
I feed off their positive energy to want to be a member of the school and community. With that, my students require the use of extended standards and partake in the alternative assessment, which gives them the opportunity to learn to the best of their ability.
My students LOVE to be engaged through multi-sensory practices. They are given the opportunity to learn through what makes them comfortable. My students know how excited I am to have them for my first year! They also know that I will do everything I can to help extend their learning in ways that fit their needs and interest. My students love to sit in fun chairs and working with each other
My Project
My students require some extra help through the day, whether it is through behavior management or to make all lessons fit their needs. Each student has moderate to severe disabilities, where we like to highlight their incredible ABILITIES!
I want to give them an opportunity to feel as though they can really be themselves in my classroom.
This means for them to rock back and forth, feel tight compression or feel comfortable in a seat that supports them. These students are tough and persistent when it comes to their academics. They have a desire to learn and be the best learners they can be. The students thrive on their ability to work towards awards. The seating is their favorite award to achieve. The more flexible seating I have, the more accepting my classroom will be for them.
