Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store. I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best.
My students are brilliant and highly motivated to learn math in a fun and engaging way!
Many do not enjoy math unless it is presented in a way they can connect with the content. That is why this year I have decided to do an interactive notebook. My students are 89% Hispanic. Having the visual representation in their notebook really helps them learn and be apart of the learning process. The work we do in this classroom is more then math but is about building the confidence as a student because their hard work is reflected in their notebooks. We celebrate with showcasing our work to our family and friends! They are all college bound scholars!
My Project
Glue and paper will continue to allow all of my 7th grade mathematicians to shine! Sometimes tape will be needed for the activities that need to be help down better then glue can. The materials I have requested will used to help them continue to mold their minds with the creation of their Interactive Notebooks (also known as INB). This will be my students’ “go to” resource, where they can look back if they need to study or need help on assignments. They will always be able to refer back to any concepts that have been taught in class because everything they need to know is all in there. This is considered their cheat code to 7th grade math and it’s a more interactive way to learn!
Students are building their own textbook as the year progresses through the use of interactive notebooks but, with their own personalities attached to it!
Their notebooks will be filled of notes, colors and their own thoughts and ideas about the different concepts they will learn this year in math. As their teacher it also tells me a lot about the student because it allows me to use the information they reflect on and make accommodations and modifications for all students in the classroom.
