Students in my kindergarten classroom come to school excited about learning. Most of my students come from low-income families, and all the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch. This background can mean that students’ families cannot afford to purchase needed school supplies. Unfortunately, some of the students in my class are experiencing homelessness, which can mean that they lack items to meet their most basic needs.
My students deserve to receive the best education possible so that they are able to succeed in school and in life.
These boys and girls have such awesome attitudes, and they try their best every day!
My Project
Kindergarten students love to paint. They would spend every day painting, if they were given the choice. They have huge imaginations and love to create. They create amazing characters, stories and scenarios. We do not have an art teacher, so each teacher is in charge of teaching art to their students. I try to integrate art into other areas, such as literature, writing and science. This teaches students that the arts are important to every content area and every part of their lives.
I am requesting a set of classroom paint, a set of paintbrushes and 96 canvas tiles, so my students can create works of art that they can take home and display.
By painting on canvases, the students will begin to see that they are artists and that their work is important and valuable. I will encourage parents to display the students' art in their houses. This will make the students extremely proud and will encourage them to create even more works of art.
