My students need some new nonfiction titles in a variety of interest areas as well as classroom content areas. Because our students are always ready to explore, updating our collection will give them the best materials.
The students at Ethan H. Shive Elementary School are some of the best our county has to offer. Every time I get to enter their classrooms and invite them into our school's media center, they find new ways to surprise me.
The kids in our school are awesome and always hungry for more learning opportunities.
I love being able to show them new resources and teach them new skills. Because they are curious, avid readers, I want to update our nonfiction reading section with new materials.
Many of our students don't get the chance to explore outside of school. They depend on me and their teachers to provide new, relevant, and interesting reading materials for them. Some of our students' only library experience is the one they receive from me when they are at school.
My Project
Having some new nonfiction titles will make our school library's book collection more up-to-date for our kids' curiosities. It will also better support teachers who like to use library books in their curriculum content research. Many of our students like to research topics covered in class on their own, and having some new titles will help them continue to do that!
Having a nice-looking, updated collection sends a clear message to our teachers, kids, and parents: We care enough about your classroom goals and your children's literacy to keep our library looking clean and well-stocked with high-interest titles.
By receiving some new titles, we can discard some older ones that look raggedy or contain outdated information.
