This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach some of the most amazing fourth grade students at a Title I-funded school in South Carolina. At our school, we believe that, “Every student counts and every moment matters!” This is my fifth year teaching fourth grade, and I absolutely love working with my students. They are such a diverse group of students that come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds.

My students are such a sweet and eager group of kids, and they deserve the very best experiences!

Our students come from a high poverty area, but their families are very hard-working and supportive of their children's education. It is such a joy to work with them. Most of the families live within walking distance of the school and walk to and from school. It amazes me how much they put into the education of their children and how wonderful they are to work with!

My Project

This project brings snacks to our classroom, to keep our minds focused on learning, and not on our growling bellies! Hunger distracts my students from learning, but having snacks to help curve that hunger helps them focus and do better in class. I was lucky enough to get snacks donated over the summer, but just as many supplies are this time of year, our snack supply is running low. Many of my students can't afford to bring their own snacks from home and often I send snacks home with a few of my students on the weekend to ensure they don't go hungry. With all of the upcoming state tests as well as our district testing, it is important to ensure that the students are focused on all of their lessons!

These snacks will make a huge impact on our student's daily activities and ability to focus in class.

We are asking for variety packs of Kellogg's cereal bars, Goldfish crackers, Cheez-its, pretzels, and granola bars.
