My students need an iPad and case so no more paper will be wasted in the classroom! They can use technology to send me their essays and notes instead of wasting paper!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Tomorrow will be better for as long as America keeps alive the ideals of freedom and a better life." - Walt Disney
My students are the most wonderful group of kids.
I teach 6th grade at a school in California that is 80% free or reduced lunch. The students I teach do not have much, but when they come to my classroom each day, they have nothing but beautiful smiles on their faces. We have really created such a close family in our classroom and learned that if you work hard, you can achieve anything. Some are very bright, yet some need a lot of help, but they work hard to achieve their goals and are very proud of themselves when they succeed. They are very responsible and understand the value of honesty. My students immediately tell me the truth when they make a bad choice, and we talk about it one time and it never happens again. I am molding productive, successful members of society and can see them taking shape already.
My Project
Right now, there is such a huge waste of paper in schools each day. Not counting the ridiculous amounts of copies made in the staff work rooms, but even in the classroom itself. Just when students are writing essays, students can waste up to 10 pieces of paper per essay! If 30 students write 5 essays a year, that is 1,500 pieces of paper wasted each year, and that is ONLY for essays! Students waste paper on math tests for scratch work, paper to answer questions out of textbooks, etc. The average classroom can waste over 20,000 pieces of paper a year (including copies and paper in the actual classroom)
I am requesting an iPad mini to help control the waste of paper. Students will be able to put their essays directly into their drop box, and send them to me so I can read them. They can also use the iPad mini to answer science/social studies questions and send them to me, as well as do their math scratch work on it.
Disney will be able to make a difference in my classroom in so many ways.
It will help conserve the waste of paper, as well as help engage students in technology. Right now, students just keep using paper like it is "growing on trees", which it is! If we have an iPad mini, students will be able to save so much paper each year, and with our small part, we can start to make a big difference in the world!
