My Students

I may be the first teacher my students have ever had. My students come from low-income families and live within walking distance of our school. Most of the students have large families and have siblings that attend school as well.

My students are bright and energetic and need a consistent routine.

A lot of my students do not get that at home so it is important that I give that to them when they are in my classroom. My students are important and they need to be aware of that.

My Project

I have taught a letter of the week for my entire teaching career (4 years.) I recently watched a professional development video of a fellow preschool teacher explaining the research behind how ineffective teaching a letter of the week actually is. I would like to incorporate some new ideas into my lesson plans and the books I requested were highly recommended.

If I were to have these resource books, I feel that I could be a more effective teacher in my classroom.

These resource books would teach me the research behind the letter of the week and give me some ideas on how to incorporate these ideas into my teaching and lesson plans.
