My students are lively and energetic Kindergarten learners. They like to play learning games, work in groups together, and be active with lots of movement. My classroom is rarely the "quiet room". We talk, ask questions, sing, and groove our way through the day. The students are always excited about any new ideas and projects we may be learning.
We are a small, rural school with high expectations for our students!
Our school qualifies for 100% free breakfast and lunch through a low-income grant. We are always on the lookout for any possible grants and extra money available to help fund our projects. We have high expectations for our students, but know that we have to provide them with materials and opportunities in any way possible. My goal is for every one of my kiddos to leave my room with lots of knowledge and a love of learning.
My Project
This is my 7th year begging for safe tables for my children. The new tables will enable us to move around without being hurt.
Our current tables were to be thrown in the garbage 20 years ago by a local business.
They were salvaged, cut down to size, and given to our school to use. In the years that I have been in this room, I have had multiple hospital visits for my children to receive stitches due to the unsafe edges of our tables. I have lost count of the nurse visits for scratches and cuts from our tables.
