Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school's culture is focused on incorporating our community as much as possible. As a teacher, I've seen how interconnected it is from parents being involved in the school to policemen and firemen walking around the school building. It is extremely special when policemen and firemen are familiar with students and have a unique bond with them. Not only is this beneficial for students to know community helpers in their community, but it also makes students aware of who is part of our community! Because of this, I strive to build a learning community in the classroom that is student-centered and where students strive to become independent thinkers.
My Project
My school is located in a low-income community, where we don't have some of the crucial resources for our students. One of those resources that we are in dire need of is laminating roll.
Being a new teacher, I have a lot of paper material that needs to be laminated.
Having a laminator and pouches in my classroom will help me have easy access to a laminator, and also leave laminating roll for the rest of the school.
Most importantly, this laminator will benefit my students in receiving laminated paper activities that will last a long time. Math and reading activities that are often printed in paper, are easy to fall apart after 2 uses. Laminating all my materials for my students will enhance the use of them for the years to follow.
