Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Fractions are everyone in our daily lives, it is extremely important that my students have a firm understanding of this concept. They want to succeed, they yearn to succeed, they will succeed - with your help that is.
I teach third grade in a Title 1 school which means many of my students don't have their basic needs met on a daily basis.
You would think this would make my students bitter - but not these kids. My students are the most loving, caring, kind kids you have ever met. They want nothing more than to better themselves and achieve their goals. Each one of my kids has a plan for the future and it's my job to ensure they reach their goal. They love helping each other but just don't have all the tools they need in order to be successful.
My Project
My students will use these fractions activities to help conquer one of the most challenging concepts they face. I don't even remember doing fractions on a number line and my third graders are expected to master it. Now I already mentioned how awesome they are so of course they are going to achieve mastery, but it will be more fun and engaging with these tools. The variety of fraction tools I am asking for will help them understand comparing, ordering, adding, subtractions, identifying fractions in sets and on a number line. These kits will make them the most successful bunch of kids around. Don't you want to say you helped with that?
Any donation to funding this project will get us one step closet to achieving success in our classroom.
My students will finally have the hands on learning opportunities that many financially stable students get on a daily basis. This will level the playing field and allow them to focus on their learning and achieving their goals.
