Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am an art teacher in a large Title One school, which is located in the largest city in the state of Connecticut. My school is made up of students varying in grades from pre K through 8th grade from many diverse cultures.
I want to make the art room a place where my students can be excited about learning about art and creating it themselves.
My students are awesome artists! They are extremely creative when given the opportunity, supplies and equipment.
My Project
I have wonderfully enthusiastic artists enter my art room every day. I want to provide them with the best art experience that I can and hopefully help establish a lifelong love for the arts.
I do not have a kiln inside of my art room but still want my students to have the experience of working with clay while learning various hand-building techniques.
Having a minor in ceramics myself I believe that my love for clay would further enhance my students learning and creating. The lessons that I hope to incorporate with clay are endless. We will create small pinch pots, low relief tiles and small sculptures.
