My students love to learn, play, dance, and live a healthy and active lifestyle! My students are hard-working, eager, and ready to learn and better their lives. We are a Title I, low income/high poverty school with all the drive and readiness to succeed, but need the right resources to do so. I teach a high percentage of the students who may be considered a behavior problem, are significantly below grade level in Math and English, and often have tough personal and home lives. However, in my dance class, these students thrive. They find passion and purpose in class and excel in a kinesthetic/active class such as dance.
My students come from a primarily low- income background. We are a Title- 1 school so getting any kind of resource, especially for an extracurricular activity, can be a big burden to the families and guardians of our students.
My dancers don't let their financial strain affect their passion for dance.
They are hardworking, determined and motivated. They stay after school several days a week for practice and perform in district and community events. Although these bags may seem like a superficial resource with little effect, what you don't realize is that when we go to competitions and events, all other teams are decked out in matching warm-ups, bags, costumes, etc. Seeing them and seeing us can affect my dancers' overall confidence in their ability and team-ness. These duffle bags will help my dancers feel in unison and more professional at their performances and hey can finally look how good they actually are!
