This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I devoted the first ten years of my teaching career to working with 4-year-olds, now I'm in my fourth year teaching fourth grade, and I love it! But something I've learned is that there is a need in every classroom without a doubt!

My student demographics include English language learners, low socioeconomic status, and single parent-guardian households.

Most of these kids have no ideas or aspirations about what they want in life, so they settle for what they see in their daily lives. I teach these students to embrace the importance, and the impact education can have in their lives.

My students are very humble, hardworking, and responsible individuals who should have the same learning opportunities as everyone else. Most of the time, a lack of proper resources limits these opportunities. As an educator, I feel that our responsibility is to prepare and equip students with the right tools to succeed in school.

My Project

The second semester has begun, and for us in Texas, it means the countdown to the state assessment in May! To help our students succeed and close academic gaps, especially during these trying times of Covid, we will be staying for tutoring three days out of the week. We eat lunch at 10:45 am and a long shot till 5 pm. Students would indeed be starving by that time.

It is known that children should never be hungry because it affects their ability to focus and learn.

Therefore the snacks will help stop those rumbling stomachs and hold up until they get home.
