This project will support my on-level students. This year, my on-levels are SO invested in reading and creative writing. They have such a "go-getter" spirit when it comes to learning. This is my first year of freshmen that are so respectful to adults and their peers. They give me hope.
Like with any classroom, this group of freshmen needs supports when it comes to unfamiliar language.
We are about to read Romeo and Juliet, and the No Fear Shakespeare version would really get these kids into drama! They are going to have so much fun!
My Project
One area my students struggle the most with is reading classical literature and understanding Shakespearean language. I am requesting one-to-one copies of No Fear Shakespeare Romeo & Juliet for my ninth grade on-level classes so they can read the modern text and see how it correlates with Shakespearean language. My students love to perform and I want to support them having fun in their English class.
In my classroom, we enjoy cultivating a love for literature.
What better way to immerse students in a cultural and historical time than making the language accessible to them! By having a class set of No Fear Shakespeare Romeo & Juliet books, my students will be able to understand the language easily. This will make performing staple scenes in the play an effortless process. My students will be able to engage and appreciate Shakespeare, which is every teacher's dream!
