My students are reliable, proud, polite and supportive. These are standard traits for people living in our small town Forks, Washington. You may have heard of our cozy town of approximately 3,500 people while reading author, Stephenie Meyer's, popular Twilight Saga. Although the vampires Mrs. Meyers writes of may be fictional, the rain is not. On average, Forks, Wa gets 110 inches of rain a year compared to the United States average of 38 inches per year. While the city of Forks is a beautiful community filled with love, support, and rich history, our students do face obstacles.
Our community suffers from depression, opioid abuse and high suicide rates and up until this year, our district did not offer health education to its students.
With your help, I can provide the best instruction that will help improve many aspects of health in the community.
My Project
Hooray, I have been hired to teach health for the first time to students in my district! I am eager to start setting up my classroom but have run into a dilemma.
Because of space issues, I will be teaching my health classes in a gymnasium, which means my students will not have desks.
The portable desks I have found would be the perfect solution!
With desks, students will be able to sit up with good posture rather than slump over to write on the floor. They will be able to give me their best work because they will worry less about comfort, dirt on the floor, and writing on an uneven surface. These desks will even allow students to stretch while they are writing or sit on the bleachers if they prefer. Please help us!
