This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have an amazing class of second-grade learners this year! They love science and engineering.

My students and I are a part of a professional development school.

We use best practices and partner with our local university. We are also a STEM school. My students are excited to experiment and work together to build and create. I feel a great responsibility to teach them and be prepared each day. I know that the FUTURE of the world is in my classroom TODAY!

My Project

The "Wholehearted School Counseling" bundle was recommended to me by a phenomenal school counselor. I was listening to her teach my students a 30-minute lesson every other week and realized social and emotional skills are the learning we need for our entire lives.

This year, my new school does not have a counselor and I have been seeking ways to help my students with SEL.

I was pointed in the direction of a website called Teachers Pay Teachers and introduced to The Wholehearted School Counselor (seller). She has created over 140 lesson plans using interactive games and technology to engage students in learning about social and emotional health. This is exactly what is missing in my teaching this year. Without a school counselor, the teachers are ultimately responsible to teach these life skills. Yet, I do not have the resources. I am seeking help to purchase this bundle so that my students and those that I teach can know how to navigate through life's challenges. Lessons include topics such as dealing with stress, friendship, anger management, mindfulness, and conflict resolution. I can't wait to create a daily routine that will help my students understand wellness on a deeper level.
