My Students
My students live in a high poverty neighborhood; school is their safe haven and place to receive their daily needs. My school provides breakfast, lunch, and daily healthy snacks. Starting next year, students will begin receiving dinner as well. Although my students come to school with challenges, I do all I can to fill in the gaps and provide love, safety, and comfort to make their learning more fulfilling and challenging so they are college and career ready in the future.
My Project
These writing materials will make such a difference to my students, especially my left handed students.
Writing can be hard for any child, but for my left handed students, it is especially cumbersome!
The slanted desk topper will help my students to be able to see their writing and prop up a book so they can refer back to if necessary. The larger pencils and egg shaped cushions will give students a better grip and help their fingers to not become cramped and tired. This will help them with their writing stamina and engagement! The finger spacers are a must so the students can read their writing and separate the words with ease.
