Don't be a BYSTANDER! Help prevent bullies in our school. My students will benefit from viewing the movie BULLY. This project will help students break the code of silence and learn to speak up and not be a bystander.
My students live in a rural community which borders two Indian reservations in South Dakota.
Many of our students live in poverty. We have very large class sizes, our 7th grades have 33 students per class. We deal with bullying issues too often. We have an awesome school. Teachers and students take pride in it and we all support each other. Our community supports our school in all activities. My students are excited about this project and DonorsChoose.org!
My Project
I am requesting funding for this movie screening in order to educate my students about bullying. Students will then put their learning to use; they will be produce positive Public Service Announcement videos that will educate viewers about bullying. We will post their videos on our local public television station. I am also going to have students produce a PowerPoint presentation that can be shared in classrooms throughout the school. I picked this project so students will be able identify and empower students who are current or potential targets of bullying. It is our hope that viewing the BULLY movie will make students think twice about bullying. We want to create a Middle School where students are free to learn with confidence and without fear. We hope to build a community of learners where all kids are empowered.
Bullying has to stop and you can help!
Students need the issue of bullying brought out in the open and discussed. I want my students to study this issue in depth. With the knowledge the film BULLY provides, students will see what it really like for all the people involved when bullying happens. Hopefully, students will be empowered to stop bullying when they see it happen. They will no longer be a bystander!
