In 7th grade Ogden School students study biology in a departmental setting. Part of the focus for the year is studying the human body. Because all of our classes have special needs students, just reading about the body does not give all of them the information they need. I want all students to be able to connect rubber bands to the bones to demonstrate how the muscles work and to tape red paper around the areas where muscles would be. We do have models of body parts and I would like the students to be able to position these models inside the skeleton to show exactly where they are in the body. Because many of the special needs students have trouble writing things on paper, I need them to be able to use the skeleton to show me that they know how the body moves and where our organs are located. There are about 110 students in the seventh grade per year who will be directly affected by this learning tool and all of the other 500 students in our school will benefit as the skeleton will be allowed to travel throughout the building.
