Help me give my students small motor skills practice with the bead strings. Dominoes are especially helpful for their small motor skills and counting practice. The charts I will use to post mathematical “challenges” students can solve.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a wonderful blend of kindergarten students, some come very well prepared for school, some have had no schooling whatsoever.
The population is mostly (75%) Hispanic and from lower-income families.
While our district does a great job of providing school supplies, technology, and curriculum for teachers and students, it’s my goal to provide enrichment as well. I am hopeful Donors Choose will help me.
I’m very motivated to begin a reading at home partnership with parents. I’d love to be able to send books students have read in class to practice at home. I’d also like to provide some math games for the children to play, which again they can take home and practice with their families.
My Project
Young children need to refine their fine motor skill when they come to school. Rather than use paper and pencil worksheets, handling and moving colorful objects is far more interesting and engaging.
The more colorful and fun the materials, the higher the level of engagement.
This is why I am requesting the bead strings, the dominoes, and the charts. Children are very motivated to touch and count things they can move and manipulate. A majority of my students have not been exposed to any learning materials before coming to school. Their families often do not provide educational opportunities for them at home.
