Have you ever spent the night at a museum? Our students have not. With the nearest museum two hours away from our small town, most of our students have never been to a museum, let alone spent the night.
Living in a rural community, our students don't often get the opportunity to travel to more urban learning environments like museums and zoos.
While our students have a love for science, many of them have not experienced the wonders of science outside of our small farming town. A trip to Denver's Museum of Nature and Science would take their passion for science to the next level.
My Project
A "camp-in" at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science will provide an opportunity to connect classroom curriculum to real world, hands-on experiences. Students will participate in space exploration activities, such as building space probes, launching rockets, and viewing the planetarium. They will examine the human body, and participate in a lab where they dissect an eye or heart. The students will also have an opportunity to explore various exhibits at the museum and the neighboring zoo.
In a rural school, with limited resources, this field trip gives students the opportunity to experience learning in way that is not possible in the classroom.
Your donation does not just provide a one-time learning experience, but will positively impact our students' love for science for years to come. This overnight trip could even inspire them to pursue a career in science.
