My students need lab supplies and equipment to support Next Generation Science Standards learning! New standards mean a need for new equipment like handheld crank generators, electromagnets, simple motors and fiber optic cable!
My 8th grade science students are so wonderful! They have such enthusiasm for learning about how the world works around them. At the 8th grade level, students are still acclimating to middle school expectations and having a class dedicated to integrated science. Many topics at this level will be their first concentrated exposure to the areas of earth science, physical science and life science. It is fun, but challenging, to teach them so many new concepts that can be difficult. My students come from many different ethnic backgrounds and socioeconomic levels. Their varied life experiences make it challenging to share real-world science examples that all students can relate to and understand. Experiencing scientific investigation first-hand is the best way to learn new concepts and begin to apply those concepts to the world around them.
My Project
The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) are here! With a majority of our NGSS standards covering topics that we have never taught at the 8th grade level, my students need lab supplies and equipment for hands-on learning.
Handheld Crank Generators will provide learning opportunities in a variety of ways.
They can be used to investigate the transfer of energy from one form to another in addition to being used to design investigations involving electricity and magnetism! TEDCO Simplest Motor devices, Electromagnets and Elegoo Test Leads can also be used for electricity and magnetism lab activities along with the Sci-Fi Tubes that demonstrate circuit completion.
Finally, end glow fiber optic cable and Mini LED Flashlights will allow my students to explore the world of information transfer through light and waves.
These durable and reusable lab supplies and equipment will support student success with the Next Generation Science Standards. We are excited to investigate and explore our world!
