I teach students of all income and ability levels at a Title I high school in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Our students are above 50% free and reduced lunch, and we have an extremely diverse student body that is roughly 50% white 30% African American and 20% Latino. We also have a significant American Indian population from the nearby Catawba Indian Reservation.
These students are extremely capable but in many cases have limited support from home.
We seek to provide resources to better connect them to learning while at home and provide some level of choice for their learning process.
These materials will allow me to supplement learning time in class with learning time at home that will allow me to do more project and group work in class.
By providing a resource that students will be able to access at their own pace, we will engage more learners in the process.
By providing them with access to video lecture and embedded visuals outside of the classroom, students will have easy access to information that used to only come from texts and/or lecture.
Students might also use the video equipment to create Vlogs for class discussion or for project-based assignments.
