Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at my school are driven, hard-working, and persevere despite the daily challenges they face. They are ready and willing to engage in their learning and work hard at math.
My students are excited to use and develop their skills in math in diverse ways.
My school is a low income, Title I school, nestled in the heart of Western Massachusetts where all students receive free breakfast, lunch, and snacks. We have amazing students who deserve equal access to fun, engaging, interactive opportunities to learn and practice their math skills.
My Project
Math is a crucial part to almost every part of our lives and ensuring students have the skills to they continue to learn and grow is crucial. My students all need constant fluency practice. Having games that push students to think quickly and use all four operations will benefit the all of their math work.
The game 24 will be a great, engaging way for my students to practice!
With single digit and double digit sets, this game will be accessible to all third and fourth graders, especially because within each pack there are also three different difficulty levels.
Additionally, the blank packs of playing cards will allow for custom versions of a sequencing game which is accessible to all grade levels. I know my students will be excited to have more options to engage in different ways with their math.
