My students need plenty of paper on which to print and distribute their newspapers to their peers, as well as writing process folders to guide them through the journalistic process.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students crave opportunities to use technology to create things and share them with their peers and parents. Many of our students lack a lot of resources at home and 98% receive free or reduced lunch.
For the first time in recent memory, our Title I school is offering clubs to give our students ways to get involved at school!
I want to make sure we give those students who aren't interested in sports more opportunities a stay engaged in and out of school.
My Project
My student staff will soon start producing our school's very own monthly newspaper in hopes of strengthening our school community, as well as keeping parents and community members informed about our school's events and activities. They will learn how to use Word, Excel, and Adobe Illustrator to create student-written articles, polls, graphs, and cartoons.
Having these supplies will help our student newspaper staff strengthen their research and writing skills, as well as promote literacy across the school.
These young journalists will use their writing process folders, clipboards, and colored pens to guide them through the whole writing process, from researching topics, interviewing others, drafting our stories, editing and revising them, and finally publishing and distributing the newspaper. Best of all, they are REALLY excited to use their new lanyards to wear their official newspaper badges and get more involved in our school's events!
