Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are energetic, excited and eager to learn! They come to school each day with smiles and a thirst for knowledge. They have many questions, which makes learning fun. These students love lessons and activities that are engaging and hands on. Science is one of their most favorite subjects because they get to explore. These students have really taken an active role in their learning experiences this school year. My students are the best first graders ever and I have enjoyed being their teacher!

My Project

Scholastic News will focus on building content knowledge, vocabulary, and early reading skills for my students. The magazines are student centered as they reflect the diversity of todays classroom. The subscriptions get harder as the students reading skills increase throughout the school year. The magazines are designed with the children in mind. The colorful, real world photographs take the students far beyond the four walls of the classroom. I believe these magazines will help foster a greater love for reading for the students in my classroom; while incorporating the Science and Social Studies skills that they need. Please help my students experience Scholastic News!
