Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are always interested in what is happening in the world around them. With very little free resources for kids, we are not always able to keep up with the news. I hope that by the end of this year, we will be up to date on all current events and use those to extend our learning.
Students at my school are such fast learners and take to anything thrown at them.
There is an overwhelming sense of community and respect between each student, and I believe this is a direct result of the example each teacher sets in their own interactions with colleagues and students.
My Project
My students will use the Scholastic News Magazines to extend their learning, while in the classroom or remote. They will be able to identify text features and explain what they are learning using those features. My students will also be able to expand their vocabulary from the higher levels that are being presented to them in these magazines. As a whole, these magazines will help raise reading levels in each individual student. This donation will extend our learning tremendously!
My students will be able to keep their learning relevant to what is happening in their time.
These magazines will engage all students through the many topics that are presented throughout the year. I cannot wait to see the excitement they have when they are learning about the world around them.
