Help me give my students lap desks as flexible seating options and magazines as a fun, engaging way to learn about real world happenings and educational topics.
My students come into the classroom every morning eager to learn and excited for what the day will bring!
My students, while from various backgrounds and cultures, all share a love of reading and are excited to learn about new topics and use new technology!
We live in a small town in South Mississippi, but our classroom family is always looking for ways to expand our learning experiences with the use of the newest programs, technology, and thematic units. They love to learn!
My Project
We love to read a variety of text in our classroom. The students would love to read a magazine/news article that is on topic for second grade curriculum. Scholastic News really focuses on social studies and science that is integrated into our reading lessons. The lap desks will offer the students to take learning in various areas of the classroom and school.
We focus on nonfiction text features in second grade, the Scholastic News is a great way to introduce nonfiction text features that relate to all our of curriculum standards.
The students are able to identify the nonfiction text features as we read the news in class. The Scholastic News are sent out monthly with four articles that relate to events and monthly topics that relate to curriculum. Each student will receive their own copy to use in class and will be able to take home to refer to later.
