Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school constantly strives to build positive relationships with students and their families. I have 25 phenomenal and motivated English learners. Most of my students are on free or reduced-price lunch. My goal is to support my students emotionally and academically.
Many of my students don’t have access to technology at home.
Even though they face several limitations, they never stop to amaze me. They always come to school with a great attitude and ready to learn.
I want to equip my students with the tools they need to succeed in my classroom and in life.
My Project
I will use the chairs and iPad in order to lead professional development for the new teachers on my campus. I am the lead mentor teacher for the new teachers to my campus and conduct meetings several times weekly with groups, as well as individual new teachers. Not only this, but I must take professional development from the district in order to lead the mentor teacher meetings. These meetings act as an update of all information and current teaching strategies used in the district.
I will use these chairs to have a welcoming area in my room to conduct new teacher professional development.
As well as, for a place for me to take my online professional development in order to support the new teachers on my campus through the next week's meetings. Each week we have different items we must go over and teach the new teachers. The iPad will be used to take notes, submit and store all documentation necessary for the district, as well as to create demonstrations and presentations.
In supporting these new teachers, all students in the school will benefit from their new knowledge, as well as my up to date information and strategies given to us by the district.
