This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Once again I find myself in a new school and an empty classroom. It's so hard to give your all and all to your little ones when things seem incomplete. The proper classroom furnishings truly make a world of difference for children in a special needs preschool setting.
I have a great group of children this year, well I say that every year and every year I mean it.
They are in my preschool disabilities program for three and four year old. They have a host of conditions that warrant them to be in the setting however they are more than eager to learn. They are so funny, and clever always finding ways to melt your heart. They appreciate every thing we have to provide them, even though what we have is minimal. Working in a low income district money is always an issue, so when I arrived at the new school and "surprise" no furnisher in the room, I knew it was going to be a fight to get the furnishings needed. My children deserve a great classroom and I would love to provide one for them.
My Project
My children need so many items but for now I am focusing on a few key ones. I set up a library however I do not have any book stands. I would like to purchase at least one so I can display the books that are still in boxes in the corner of our classroom. We need an easel. The children need to learn how to be expressive and the easel will be a big help in the art area of the room. Who knows, we may have a future Jackson Pollock among us. We also need a writing center to complete the language arts area. Writing is key for so many other skills. Pre-writing activity prepare my darlings for self-expressive, and critical thinking skills that will carry them for life. Your help can do so much for these little champions. I know the items I selected do not seem like they would make that big of a difference but they really do. Baby steps are the start to bigger and better things.
I hope you will see the very important need for the items I requested for our classroom.
My darlings needs all of the resources that can be made available to them. This is why, your support is such a necessity. I know my children would benefit so greatly from your help and kindness, no matter how big or small. As you read this, picture my children in this practically baron room. It's not a great image.
