My Students

The students are 10th grade World History students. The class consists of regular students, special education students, and English as a Second Language students.

The students enjoy learning about current events and relating them to topics we are discussing in World History class.

The student population is very diverse and consists of many immigrants. The students like learning about what is happening in their home country. The students are used to getting information from social media. The students would benefit from having access to valid sources to get their information.

My Project

The "Upfront" magazine will be read monthly by my students to increase their awareness of current events. Students like to use social media for their "news" and need a reliable source to learn from.

The "Upfront" magazine is published by the New York Times and will be a valid source for my students to learn about current events.

It is written in an appealing manner for high school students.

The magazine comes with lesson plans to ensure proper student assessments are administered and students are reaching their learning goals. The provided videos and online activities will also engage the students.
