Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a very low economic area where they struggle to connect to school and learning. They have amazing potential, but they haven't mastered the basics in many areas of school to feel a sense of achievement. They have a hard time concentrating due to the distractions of life outside of school.

Many of them do not have the support at home that is needed to be successful.

They are on their own. It is my responsibility to engage them and make them feel as though they can succeed. My students have a lot to offer, but they need more motivation than the average student.

My Project

The last school year was hard with virtual learning, and this year has been the same level of difficulty. Although we are halfway through the school year, my students still haven't gotten back into the routine of school. Many of them have the same mindset from last year and can't focus for long periods of time.

My students need some new ways to stay focused and engaged.

I need more Flexible Ball Chairs. They really help some of the students focus. I need chips and candy for the Ticket Store to help motivate them throughout the week to complete their work and stay on task. I've started putting puzzles out for the students to work on when their assignments are complete, and they like it when I glue the puzzle afterwards and hang it up. This is why I need the magnetic paint, mod podge, and magnets.

Of course, we are still in the midst of the pandemic. I need face masks to hand out when students forget them and disinfecting wipes to wipe down tables at the end of each day.
