This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Hi there, I teach at a Title I school in North Philadelphia. Although our school services students in a very low income area and resources are limited....that does not hinder the love for reading! It seems to actually fuel it. Reading allows students to explore worlds different from theirs or learn from characters going through similar situations they are constantly dealing with. My students are very creative! Many of them love art and crafts but most of all reading. My scholars love to read novels of all different genres: fiction, fantasy, comics/graphic novels and science fiction.
My Project
School supplies are essential! In a dream world, you buy them at the beginning of the year and they last all year long....unfortunately, that isn’t the case. These materials will give my students a fresh start when they return after the new year. These materials are basic necessities such as sharpies, pencils and loose leaf paper which are the supplies that students typically run through the quickest. The 5 subject notebooks are vital! These will give the students the opportunity to have ONE notebook that they can have for multiple subjects which cuts down on the amount of things they have to carry as well as increasing the accountability of their notebook.
