Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are second language learners with Spanish being their native language. My students have been enrolled in the dual language program since pre-kindergarten in some instances and are such eager learners!
Collaboration and comfort are key to a successful dual language classroom.
The students learn language from one another during classroom conversations. My students love working in small groups so they are able to support each other in both academic and conversation based language. English Language Learners must feel comfortable within their classroom setting to truly prosper and that's my goal as a teacher!
My Project
Flexible seating can help student achievement by giving kids the options to find their best learning spot. I believe that having these flexible seating areas will provide my students this option and this will help them take ownership of their learning and behavior.
These seating choices will make a huge difference in my students' learning by providing them with more places to sit other than their hard desk chair.
I am new to my district and I'm walking into a bare classroom. I have always wanted flexible seating choices for my students. With my selections, I want to create a comfortable reading corner using the chair and rocker. My students will also be able to exchange their desk chairs for one of the moveable options if they feel the need to.
Flexible seating also has the benefit of assisting students that have the 'wiggles' when forced to work at a desk. I have included floor desks so those kids are able to get up and move to a place where they can do their best work!
