My Project

Our school is a Title I school that has over 500 students ranging from Pre-K to 5th grade. Our guidance office works hard to meet the needs of our students. We serve a variety of students daily and even serve as a "safe space" for some of our students to calm down.

Students should never feel embarrassed or ashamed to come into our office, and we want all students to feel welcome.

We try to provide socks, and other needs when it is cold. The snacks will be given to students when they are hungry because they missed breakfast. The underwear will be given to students who have accidents in their clothes. The puzzle, fidget toys, and candy will be used as a treat for the students. I believe that students should not miss out on educational time due to hunger, bathroom accidents, anxiety, or even stress.

Unfortunately. there are times when the health office does not have a change of clothing available for students and they are stuck waiting in the health office for a parent to pick them up, and they lose a great deal of instructional time because of this.

Some students also come into the guidance office just for a "mental break". We strive to create a space that is inviting and peaceful. Having stress balls, fidget toys a puzzle or even a light snack may help the students feel calm and at ease.

We want all students to be healthy both mentally and physically because healthy students learn better. Please help us eliminate barriers to education and create a guidance office that truly heals students.
