Ms. C. from NY is requesting flexible seating through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need fun flexible seating to encourage their academics success!

I teach at a pre-k to 5th grade elementary school. Our students receive free breakfast and lunches daily- along with snack donated from a local grocery store three days a week. My students come from many different urban home life's and school is the "safe space" for most.
Our 5th grade team works hard daily to get our curriculum taught as well as build positive relationships with our students.
We have about 74- 5th graders this year and we rotate throughout the day to see them all. I teach the ELA block and would love a cozy spot in my classroom for them to come in and use. Reading and writing is a chore for most of my students and I am trying to change that! I think by having some flexible seating options for my students to choose from would encourage them to want to read or write at a center with some cool seats. Having some new and exciting seat options most have never seen before would be "lit" (as I'm told by my students):) I believe that these flexible seating options will motivate my students to want to read a book and be comfy while they do!
My students struggle getting motivated to read and write. By supplying them with some exciting new seats they can choose to sit and work in will give them a needed push to succeed. Change is good and our classroom could use some new and fun items to use while learning! None of our 5th grade classrooms have any flexible seating options -so this would be beneficial for all of our students who I see through out the day! It could also help with behaviors that may pop up during the day. Positive reinforcement and hard work - get to choose the chair for the block!
