Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic but truly understand class policy and the importance of learning. Once they walk into the classroom, they go to their seats quickly, immediately get the class-related materials such as pencils, composition books, and workbooks out from a designated area in the classroom. A few students will help me to pass out the textbooks and other lesson materials to the whole class; then, the majority of students will ask me the question, “What are we going to learn today?”

My Project

My students learn different subjects such as Chinese, math, read aloud, reading, science, social-emotional, and writing daily. At this moment, we need to either replace or replenish a few items in our classroom.

We need a new pencil sharpener.

Students use pencils daily to practice solving math questions as well as writing Chinese characters and essays. Therefore, they regularly sharpen their pencils; unfortunately, my pencil sharpener doesn't work anymore. We wish to have a new powerful sharpener that allows students to quickly fix their pencils.

We also would like to replace our broken clock in the classroom. Keeping track of time is very important because students need to know the amount of time they have for each activity or assignment. A simple, large-diameter clock would do the trick.

On the other hand, we hope to replenish composition notebooks. Composition notebook is one of the most frequently used tools in our classroom since students use it for reading workshop, science, math and Chinese. Currently, the majority of my students used most of the pages. New composition notebooks will let them to continue learning.

Some of my students need new 2-pocket folders with metal prongs. During daily writing workshop, my students open their folders to either revise their previous drafts or start to write a new topic on binder papers. We realized that some of the metal prongs broke and can't no longer hold their drafts securely. New folders should help us to solve this problem.

Finally, I can use the whiteboard cleaner to clean the whiteboard at the end of day; therefore, the board will always be ready for the next day.
