Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students love to come to my class to learn math. Many of my students do not have all of their supplies for the entire year. Some come from single parent households or homeless shelters. To give them everything they need for their education I purchase materials as well as count on generous donors from DonorsChoose.
They are also some of the sweetest and most caring children who just want positive attention and to learn new skills.
My students benefit from using hands-on materials to learn new skills and to move while learning math!
My Project
During the day I teach math to about 40 different students in 3 different grade levels. They all love to use the personal white boards so having new markers will give the new year a fresh start. White board markers and any other materials I use are all bought by me.
I do not have one class all day, so I cannot ask my students to bring materials to my classroom.
I supply all of their materials, such as pencils, white board markers, paper, scissors, etc. It gets expensive when I see so many students each week and they all use and borrow my materials! I want my students to be excited to come to my class to learn math and have all the necessary materials they need to be successful and to learn to love math.
