This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students attend a Title One school where all students receive free lunch and breakfast and come from low-income, trauma, poverty, violence/gang-violence, instability, segregation and so much more. The district has finally received accreditation yet does not provide any teacher with a box of pencils. Here we are, still persistent and hopeful.
My students are remarkable, resilient, strong-willed, and motivated.
They know that every moment of every day can benefit their day and their futures; their college-bound futures. My students are beautiful little humans that absorb everything like sponges and grow so quickly!
My Project
This year, my goal is to teach fundamental standards each week, if not daily, in a routine and hands on way. This projects allows creation of more hands-on experiences for students that are developmentally appropriate. Tactile items such as pom poms or a microscope for science exploration helps provide them new opportunities to experience items with there senses. The circle time board provides children routine for daily math and science concepts. Pre-Kindergarten is a fundamental time for humans to experience the world.
Supporting this project will also help students receive basic yearly supplies such as glue sticks and markers which are used for activities in all subjects.
Thank you in advance for your help! My students will be so excited to learn with many applicable hands-on items and basic supplies.
