New Year, New Books

My students need books that are engaging and fun. This includes a variety of graphic novels, poetry books, and high interest picture books.

My Students

I work with eight to nine-year-old third-grade scholars. I am the ELD (English Language Development) teacher which means I work with English Language Learners. I teach in a Title One school, with ninety-seven percent of students qualifying for the free or reduced-price lunch program in our urban neighborhood.

My students are amazing thinkers with great potential and an eagerness to learn.

They motivate me to become a better educator every day. We work together in our learning community to become strong lifelong learners.

My Project

We need new books for a new school year. There are so many new books out there that my students want to read. We also need hardcover books of class favorites. A paperback book can only take so much tape before it starts to really fall apart.

Our classroom library needs books!

We need poetry books, high-interest picture books, graphic novels, and many more books. We will be using these books every day to read independently or with a partner. We will be using some of the comic books to help us with descriptive language. We will be reading poetry books to help us with our own classroom poems. Having a diverse classroom library filled with high-interest books will keep my students interested in reading and will help grow their love of books!
