My students are special little learners. Many of them have rough home lives and coming to school is their safe, comforting place to be. I strive to create that environment in my classroom from the items placed in our space to the way I greet them each morning. Many of my students have stories that will break your heart- the death of a baby sibling, house fires, divorce and struggles that keep my sensitive heart on its toes. Yet when each walks through the doors to our classroom they know that they have found a listening ear, a compassionate heart and firm rules. Our classroom expectations will help these wonderful third graders not only learn, but thrive.

We celebrate our friend who has managed to control his anger for a week as well as the one who passed her spelling test or remembered all of their homework that week. Each of my students is an individual, and I strive to create an environment in which they can all be successful.
My Project
As a new teacher, I am constantly learning new ways to engage and teach my students. The dice in dice, whiteboard erasers, spots and pockets will help both my students and myself become more effective. As I create engaging centers for my students to practice math and language skills these supplies will help us. The pockets and whiteboard eraser will be helpful as students work in small groups. The timer will help students take the time to self regulate. Dice in dice are an instant attention getter.
Wiggly bottoms need options for sitting.
Stools and wobble cushions will help my wiggly kids be able to choose a seat that will help them be able to focus and learn.
As a new teacher I have so many ideas and plans but not always the resources. This project will allow me to expand the opportunities my students have to learn in a way that suits them the best.
