My students need storage materials within the classroom to help provide access to manipulatives and to display various books that we are reading within the classroom.
The students at my school come from low-income families with various special needs (more specifically the students are emotionally disturbed). Working in a public school that serves children from various cultures and incomes, I have been able to see how the children learn best, which is through hands-on activities that keep them engaged. When the lessons are interactive and students are able to use manipulatives, they display an eagerness to learn because they are having fun! Seeing the joy on their faces despite the barriers they face makes being a teacher so fulfilling.
My Project
Hello! My name is Sarah and this will be my first year as a classroom teacher. Working in a special education school in New York City with a majority of my students coming from low-income families, I want to be able to provide my students with an engaging learning environment.
As a firm believer in a student centered classroom, I want to be able to create an inviting and engaging environment for all learners.
Many of my students absorb information through a more hands-on approach, so incorporating manipulatives as well as flexible seating to help my students who have various needs to focus and want to learn. Please help me be able to create a classroom for my students with special needs and for my future students who enter my classroom. Thank you so much!
