This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
For the past three years I have had the absolute pleasure to work with the staff and students in Chico CA. I started as a student teacher in the fall of 2014 then I was hired as a Title 1 teacher the following year. Since then I have worked as a part time 4th and 5th grade teacher and for two years I have been the after school program coordinator. Throughout my time, I have grown leaps and bounds as a teacher and mentor.
Now, this coming school year, 2018-2019, I finally get to have my very own classroom!
I feel confident, geared up and ecstatic to set up my own space where my students can learn.
At this point, it seems very daunting to start thinking of all the supplies and materials my students and I will need in order to be the best that we can be. Therefore, we need supplies! We need storage materials, scissors, pens, color pencils, crayons and dry erase boards.
My Project
Markers and color pencils will help the students bring their work to life and show off their learning. White boards are great for students to practice individually or show what they know to the class. Part of being a teacher is helping the students get organized. The individual pencil boxes will help them manage their own materials responsibly. And of course we need pencils, pencils, pencils! We really can't have enough pencils.
We need the basics to build upon in this new space for learning!
All of these supplies will be put to great use and help make our classroom fun and educational.
